Mike Murphy is a Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 99th district. The district includes the majority of Springfield as well as the communities of Auburn, Berlin, Chatham, Curran, Divernon, Leland Grove, New Berlin, and Thayer.
Mike Murphy was born in Springfield and raised in Divernon; he attended Divernon H.S. He served three years in the United States Army and one year in the Illinois National Guard while attending Eastern Illinois University. He served on the Divernon School Board and the Divernon Village Board and served six years on the Sangamon County Citizens Efficiency Commission as vice chairman and chairman. Mike is the past owner of Charlie Parker’s Diner. As a Charter member of Springfield Local First, he served on their initial board of directors. He was a board member of The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Mike is married to wife Cindy. They have two children and five grandchildren.
